  1. The Requirements

With more than 20 years of experience in developing, building and running wind farms, offshore wind market leader Ørsted looked to Portakabin for onshore office accommodation solutions at their base in Barrow-in-Furness. Tasked with delivering three separate buildings, Portakabin would be providing accommodation for the wind farm’s construction team as well as operations and maintenance teams.

  2. The Solution

Shirley Swann, Utilities Specialist at Portakabin explains how Portakabin is becoming the supplier of choice for clients facing challenges in renewables: “With the UK leading the way in offshore wind energy and with some of the best resources in Europe at its disposal, the Ørsted site at Barrow is well placed to support the efficiency targets set for the industry by 2020.

“It’s great to see how we’ve been able to introduce modern, multi-functional spaces here. Driving cost efficiencies for offshore wind energy is vital to ensure its longevity in the UK. The flexible options Portakabin can offer on challenging sites such as this make us a quality choice for projects in need of multi-use space.”

We engaged Portakabin to complete the installation of the onshore support base offices at Barrow-in-Furness. Portakabin performed well with a good HSE performance and met the requirements of the site to a tight deadline.
